Marítima Candina is responsible for coordinating the operational logistics of the first offshore wind generator in Spain: it was manufactured by Gamesa and its components were embarked in the Port of Bilbao for shipment to the Port of Arinaga in the Canary Islands.

Last year, Bahía de Bizkaia Gas (BBG), located in the Port of Bilbao’s industrial zone, regasified nearly 19% of the liquefied natural gas introduced into the Spanish gas system and contributed 11% of all the gas consumed.

In April, MacAndrews, a company belonging to the CMA-CGM shipping group, is reinforcing its present European 45-foot container refrigerated multimodal service by setting up a refrigerated train service that will link Murcia with Bilbao.

Traffic in the Port of Bilbao is starting to show signs of recovery after the negative close to 2012. In the first two months of this year, goods traffic has increased by 10% with regard to the same period in the previous year, and stands at 4.8 million tonnes.
