Port accessThe Bilbao Port Authority Board of Directors has approved the concession of an 8,710 square-metre surface area on the third alignment of the Reina Victoria Dock at Santurtzi to the Bonded Warehouse Consortium for the building of a new warehouse.
This entity already has ten multi-purpose storehouses on the same dock with a total surface area of 27,200 square metres.
In 2011, 210,455 tonnes of goods entered these facilities while 189,373 tonnes left. 61% of the traffic was solid bulks, 20% general cargo and the remaining 19%, liquid bulks. With regard to the main goods, iron bars occupied first place, with an important 41% increase. Non-ferrous metals were second, also having enjoyed an important 56% growth.
Goods coming from non-EU European countries amounted to 54% of total entries.
They were followed by goods from the EU, Africa and America.
