The Bilbao Port Authority has today presented its 2025-2030 Digital Transformation Plan, a comprehensive strategy with an 18.1 million euro budget that will enable the port’s technological infrastructure to be completely overhauled and modernised, its security to be reinforced, the efficiency of its operations to be improved and its logistics ecosystem to become more competitive.
Ivan Jimenez, president of the Port Authority, presented the plan to the port community, emphasising that digital transformation represents an opportunity to move towards a better connected, more sustainable port, equipped for the challenges facing the sector.
“Digital transformation is not about replacing people, but about providing our teams with better tools, automating processes and raising the technological level of the port. Our goal is to position the Port of Bilbao at the digital forefront of the Atlantic Arc”, he said.
17 strategic projects
The plan is structured around 17 strategic projects, out of a total of 25, with key projects in six areas: infrastructure and connectivity, automation and artificial intelligence, security, digital workplaces, information systems, and logistics and transport.
The plan will enable:
- operational times and costs to be cut;
- the traceability of operations to be improved;
- cybersecurity to be strengthened;
- logistics planning to be optimised;
- greater sustainability through more efficient technologies; and
- more digital and agile services for companies, operators and shipping companies.
In short, Bilbao will be A MORE EFFICIENT, SAFER AND MORE SUSTAINABLE PORT.
