Once again, the Bilbao Port and River Foundation is launching its company internship programme, an initiative aimed at promoting the development of young talent, raising awareness of the opportunities offered by the port and logistics sector for developing a professional career and, at the same time, contributing to improving the employability of young people in the coastal towns surrounding the Port of Bilbao.
In the course of 2025-26, the programme will enable ten university and/or higher level vocational training (VT) graduates under the age of thirty, with no previous work experience related to their studies and who have not previously been the beneficiaries of an internship grant, to gain their first professional experience in the functional areas of the different departments of the Bilbao Port Authority. Priority for access to the programme will be given to those who live in one of the riverside towns that are trustees of the Foundation.
Specifically, this new call for applications includes positions in the departments of Health, Safety and the Environment, Planning, Projects and Construction, Digital Transformation, Human Resources and Organisation, Communication, Sales and Marketing, Systems and Management Control, General Secretariat and Legal Services, as well as in Bilbao PortLab, the innovation hub of the Port of Bilbao.
Among the wide range of degree subjects that are eligible for the programme, the following are of particular interest: Chemistry, the Environment and/or Industrial Organisation; Civil Engineering, Mining and Energy Technology and/or Geomatics and Surveying; Labour Relations, Psychology, Sociology, Law, Economics and/or Business Administration and Management; Management IT and/or Computer Engineering; Advertising, Marketing, Communication, Document Management and/or Library Science; Master’s degrees in Occupational Risk Prevention, Maritime Law and/or Foreign Trade; and higher level VT qualifications in Asir, Dam or Daw.

In October 2025, those selected will begin an 8-month internship, accompanied by an instructor and in the real environment of the Port Authority’s functional areas, in which they will be assigned various tasks within the programme. They will discover the many options offered by the port and logistics sector for professional development and gain valuable experience for when they enter the job market at the end of their internship.
The deadline for the submission of applications to take part in the company internship programme 2025-26 is 26 September. Applications should be made through the Novia Salcedo Foundation and Mondragón University websites.
