Astilleros Zamakona Shipyards has delivered its fourth vessel to Danish shipowner Viking Supply Ships As. The Brage Viking is 85 metres long with a 22 metre beam; it is highly sophisticated and incorporates the latest technological advances for petrol platforms in Arctic waters support.
The vessel is propelled by four 19,000 BHP engines and has deck machinery which can pull up to 400 tons
so that it can handle and transfer both large perforation and exploitation platforms in Arctic areas. Besides, it has a duplex dynamic positioning system which means the vessel can hold its position in adverse weather conditions such as hurricane-force winds or rough seas and enables it to work with underwater robots at great depths.
It is an environmentally friendly ship in its gas and liquid emissions. Both its design and its facilities meet the Clean Design environmental norms as well as the Det Norske Veritas classification for noise and vibration effect for onboard crew rest and comfort. The on-working deck handling system is robotised, thus achieving a high level of safety and accident prevention.
