The facility features a 300 m\u00b2 antechamber for receiving, palletising and dispatching goods, and a 550 m\u00b2 storage area with shelving capable of holding 1,100 pallets. The main goods it is expected to handle are frozen fish, seafood and meat.<\/p>\n<p>Progeco will take charge of warehouse operations, whilst Altius, part of the Davila Group, will handle marketing. Investment in this new facility amounts to approximately 1.2 million euros, with a second phase to follow.<\/p>\n<p>The opening ceremony was attended by Eduardo Davila, president of the Davila Group; Pablo Bilbao, president of Progeco; Jimmy Jaber, president of Uniport; and Ivan Jimenez, president of the Bilbao Port Authority.<\/p>\n<p>Progeco has had a positive cold storage facility at the Port of Bilbao since 2011. The company has gradually expanded its storage space, increasing from 500 m\u00b2 to the current 8,000 m\u00b2 of positive cold storage thanks to this new freezer warehouse.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Progeco Bilbao <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Since 1985, Progeco has been providing container handling, logistics storage and freight transport services at the Port of Bilbao for customers across the entire industrial and commercial sector. The company occupies 105,000 m\u00b2 of operational space across ZAD-1, ZAD-2, ZAD-3 and the A2 dock, with 50% of this area comprising warehouses and the remaining 50% open storage. Of this total space, Progeco has a 25,000 m\u00b2 warehouse in ZAD-3 for the storage of palletised goods, including 10,000 m\u00b2 dedicated to perishable goods. It also has two temperature-controlled cold stores with a capacity for 4,000 and 3,000 pallets, respectively, and a refrigerated container depot (reefer). Furthermore, it is the only authorised distributor in Bilbao for reefer equipment manufacturers Carrier, Thermo King and Star Cool.<\/p>\n<p><\/div><div class=\"one_half column-last bbcol\"><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"thickbox\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bilbaoport.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Almacen-Progeco-Puerto-de-Bilbao.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"thickbox alignnone wp-image-54052 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bilbaoport.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Almacen-Progeco-Puerto-de-Bilbao.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"798\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Progeco Bilbao is certified under ISO 14100, ISO 45000, IFS, AEO and EcoVadis standards.
