The objective is to achieve smarter, safer and more efficient transport on the region&#8217;s roads, while also raising sustainability standards. The project forms part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/bizkaiaconnectedcorridor.biz\/en\">Bizkaia Connected Corridor<\/a> (BCC), a public-private initiative where companies can test pioneering technologies in cooperative, connected and autonomous mobility (CCAM) and smart infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>In 2024, around 680,000 heavy goods vehicles entered the Port of Bilbao. This project provides for port access points to be included within the scope of the deployment of C-ITS services associated with the BCC, improving coordination on the regional road network thanks to technological advances in the en-route information services used by port transport users and provided by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epuertobilbao.com\/en\/\">e-puertobilbao<\/a>, the e-commerce platform designed to optimise communications and facilitate interaction between stakeholders in the maritime-port environment and a benchmark tool amongst European ports. The project, run in collaboration with the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, will enable further steps to be taken to promote innovation and automation to benefit the economic fabric of the region.<\/p>\n<p><\/div><div class=\"one_half column-last bbcol\"><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"thickbox\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bilbaoport.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/20250723-NP-Publicacion-Bases-Proyecto-Piloto.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"thickbox wp-image-53037 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bilbaoport.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/20250723-NP-Publicacion-Bases-Proyecto-Piloto.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The new call, due to run over 2025-26, is open to transport operators wishing to participate in the pilot project to develop the technology deployed in the en-route information services and used by transport operators using the Port of Bilbao. It also aims to extend the current C-ITS service coverage of the BCC to the access routes to the port, with a view to improving the efficiency of the management and operation of the Port of Bilbao
