The aim of the event is to present the advances being made around the world to reduce carbon emissions in maritime transport and to meet the challenge of sustainable mobility.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting will address the importance of ports in the energy transition and their contribution to sustainable growth in a sector which, on a global scale, moves around 90% of the goods we consume and which, by 2050, faces the challenge of reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50%.<\/p>\n<p>In this scenario, ports are emerging as strategic energy hubs, and must attract investments to deploy the largest number possible of alternative fuels in their facilities (LNG, green hydrogen, synfuels, biofuels and green ammonia, amongst others). These facilities will provide a service to both ship operators and shippers, and make a decisive contribution to the decarbonisation of the logistics chain and our industry.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting will also look at the role of port authorities as drivers of investments to electrify their docks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and to accommodate more renewable energy (photovoltaic, wind and wave power).<\/p>\n<p>Ekaitz L\u00f3pez, CFO of the Port Authority of Bilbao, will take part, together with the heads of other European ports, in a colloquium on the role of ports in the decarbonisation of maritime transport. In his intervention, Mr. L\u00f3pez will outline<\/p>\n<p><\/div><div class=\"one_half column-last bbcol\"><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_46057\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-46057\"
