Those projects considered to be the most cutting-edge and best aligned to the needs of the port will be supported by Port Lab, whether or not they are eligible for 4.0 funding.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, the Bilbao Port Lab roadmap for 2021 was also approved, focusing on three areas: funding innovative projects, awareness and training, and the services to be offered to projects and to the port community.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of Bilbao Port Lab is to create an innovation ecosystem in the Port of Bilbao by working with port companies on innovation projects that arise within the port, or by attracting projects from outside. The Port Lab also invites these businesses to participate and take advantage of funding opportunities for current and potential future innovation plans.<\/p>\n<p>To do so, Bilbao Port Lab provides start-ups, entrepreneurs and companies with a living lab environment to test and develop prototypes, to facilitate contact among port companies, to provide a space to develop projects and to support entrepreneurs with the preparation of the corresponding individualised work plans.<\/p>\n<p><\/div><div class=\"one_half column-last bbcol\"><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_40138\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-40138\" style=\"width: 535px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a class=\"thickbox\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bilbaoport.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/8953-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-40138 size-medium\" title=\"The port of Bilbao\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bilbaoport.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/8953-2-535x357.jpg\" alt=\"The port of Bilbao\" width=\"535\" height=\"357\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bilbaoport.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/8953-2-535x357.jpg 535w, https:\/\/www.bilbaoport.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/8953-2-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.bilbaoport.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/8953-2.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 535px) 100vw, 535px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-40138\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The port of Bilbao<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As a step to deliver this goal, Port Lab has formed part of the Bilbao Port and River Foundation, which has set up a work team to promote and coordinate the centre. The advisory board is made up of representatives from the State Ports Authority, the SPRI group (the Basque Government&#8217;s Business Development Agency), Seed Capital Bizkaia and Beaz (both companies of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia), Tecnalia, UniportBilbao\/BCLM, University of the Basque Country &#8211; Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (UPV-EHU), University of Deusto, University of Mondrag\u00f3n, MLC, Innobasque; ORKESTRA Basque Institute of Competitiveness, Basque Maritime Forum and the Port Authority of Bilbao itself.<\/p>\n<p>The Port Authority of Bilbao will set up a section on its website (www.bilbaoport.eus) where companies can submit their inquiries and innovation projects.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/div><div class=\"clear\"><\/div><\/p>\n <div class=\"hide-for-small page-options-container hide-for-print\"> <hr class=\"page-options\"\/> <ul class=\"inline right page-options\"><li><a class=\"bmprint\" rel=\"nofollow\" title=\"Print this article\"><i class=\"icon-print\"><\/i><\/a><\/li><li><a class=\"bmsend2friend\" href=\"mailto:?subject=Article of interest: The Bilbao Port Lab advisory committee reviews the hundred or so innovation projects submitted to improve the competitiveness of the Port of Bilbao -
