The ship will be open for free visits over the whole weekend from 10.00 to 17.00 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Previously on Friday 2 March a celebration will be held at the Bilbao River Maritime Museum to welcome the crew and pay homage to the surfers who saved a whale in nearby Zarautz last November.<\/p>\n<p><em>Bob Barker<\/em>, which is making its first call in the Iberian Peninsula, is one of the most important vessels in this global movement\u2019s fleet, and holds the record for the longest sea chase in history after pursuing the pirate fishing ship <em>Thunder<\/em> for 20,000 kilometres, which was operating illegally in Antarctica and wanted by Interpol.<\/p>\n<p>The ship will be accompanied by the top directors of Sea Shepherd Global, headed by Director General, Captain Alex Cornelissen.<\/p>\n<p>During their stay in port, different acts will be held in defence of the seas, in conjunction with the Maritime Museum and the Environmental Department of Getxo Town Council.<\/p>\n<p>Since it was founded in 1997 by Captain Paul Watson, the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society has devoted itself to taking non-violent direct action in defence of the oceans in accordance with the United Nations Charter for Nature.<\/p>\n<p><\/div><div class=\"one_half column-last bbcol\"><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_25213\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-25213\" style=\"width: 535px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a class=\"thickbox\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bilbaoport.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Bob-Barker-2.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-25213\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-25213 size-medium\" title=\"MV Bob Barker\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bilbaoport.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Bob-Barker-2-535x758.jpg\" alt=\"MV Bob Barker\" width=\"535\" height=\"758\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bilbaoport.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Bob-Barker-2-535x758.jpg 535w, https:\/\/www.bilbaoport.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Bob-Barker-2-106x150.jpg 106w, https:\/\/www.bilbaoport.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Bob-Barker-2.jpg 847w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 535px) 100vw, 535px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-25213\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">MV Bob Barker<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/div><div class=\"clear\"><\/div><\/p>\n <div class=\"hide-for-small page-options-container hide-for-print\"> <hr class=\"page-options\"\/> <ul class=\"inline right page-options\"><li><a class=\"bmprint\" rel=\"nofollow\" title=\"Print this article\"><i class=\"icon-print\"><\/i><\/a><\/li><li><a class=\"bmsend2friend\" href=\"mailto:?subject=Article of interest: Famous ship Bob Barker to berth at Getxo cruise terminal this weekend -
