There will be over twenty activities available for groups of children of different ages, including a gymkhana on the River itself, a zip-line to cross it and a freight train.<\/p>\n<p>The day begins at 11.00 am and ends at 8.00 pm with free entrance to all the activities.<\/p>\n<p>Each year the event will take place in a different riverside town.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Economic Impact<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bilbao is the main port on the northern Spanish Coast due to its volume of traffic, infrastructure and number of shipping lines. The Port\u2019s activity maintains 9,000 jobs and produces 1% of the Basque Country\u2019s GNP and 2% of Biscay\u2019s. Nearly 5,000 people usually visit its facilities and the Port Authority alone employs<\/p>\n<p><\/div><div class=\"one_half column-last bbcol\"><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_15512\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15512\" style=\"width: 305px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a class=\"thickbox\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bilbaoport.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/sedepuerto2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-15512 size-medium\" title=\"Ships and Port Authority building\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bilbaoport.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/sedepuerto2-305x203.jpg\" alt=\"Ships and Port Authority building\" width=\"305\" height=\"203\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-15512\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ships and Port Authority building<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>270\u00a0staff.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the Bilbao Port and River Foundation is to promote and develop a wide range of socio-cultural and recreational plans and actions of general interest that will provide greater knowledge of how the past and present relevance of the Port of Bilbao and the River itself have contributed to the economic and social development and the integration of the riverside towns.
