{"id":11461,"date":"2014-02-03T08:59:50","date_gmt":"2014-02-03T06:59:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bilbaoport.eus\/?p=11461"},"modified":"2014-10-31T14:13:38","modified_gmt":"2014-10-31T12:13:38","slug":"port-bilbao-commences-ezagutu-portua-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bilbaoport.eus\/en\/news\/port-bilbao-commences-ezagutu-portua-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"Port of Bilbao commences its \u201cEzagutu Portua\u201d programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"show-for-small mobile-breadcrumbs\"><ul class=\"breadcrumbs\"><li class=\"home\"><span property=\"itemListElement\" typeof=\"ListItem\"><a property=\"item\" typeof=\"WebPage\" title=\"Go to Port of Bilbao.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bilbaoport.eus\/en\/\" class=\"home\" aria-current=\"page\"><span property=\"name\">Port of Bilbao<\/span><\/a><meta property=\"position\" content=\"1\"><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div><p><div class=\"one_half bbcol\">The Port Authority of Bilbao\u2019s \u201cEzagutu Portua\u201d programme (Basque for \u201cKnow your Port\u201d) began on 3 February with the first educational visit.<\/p>\n<p>During their stay, the schoolchildren saw the Port facilities at Santurtzi and Zierbena as well as learning about different subjects such as history and geography (History of the River and Port of Bilbao), types of vessels (typology and parts of a boat), maritime transport (means of transport, maritime traffic, historical and present day professions) and energy and the environment (renewable energies, measuring instruments, environmental measures).<\/p>\n<h3>Booked until June<\/h3>\n<p>The Port Authority\u2019s invitation to schools, which is completely free, has been so well accepted that all school days have already been booked up until June. Thus, over the coming months, almost 2000 schoolchildren will visit the docks at the port.<\/div><div class=\"one_half column-last bbcol\"><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_14304\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14304\" style=\"width: 305px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a class=\"thickbox\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bilbaoport.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/ezagutu15.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-14304 size-medium\" title=\"Ships and Port of Bilbao office building\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bilbaoport.eus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/ezagutu15-305x149.jpg\" alt=\"Ships and Port of Bilbao office building\" width=\"305\" height=\"149\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-14304\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ships and Port of Bilbao office building<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In May, the Port Authority, which will continue with this initiative next year, will contact schools again with a view to organising the second programme. Priority will be for those centres that have not visited the Port this year.<\/p>\n<p>The visits are aimed at schoolchildren in the 8 to 14 age group.
